Atherton Mill Wine Shop To Host Second Annual Oyster Fest June 20
CHARLOTTE - It’s time to shuck, slurp and sip as Vin Master’s wildly popular Oyster Fest returns on June 20.
Join Vin Master for a night of oyster and wine pairings at the second annual event in South End, which coincides the start of the Summer of Riesling.
For $25 per person, guests will sample all-you-can-eat oysters (raw and cooked) from Lucky Fish from Atherton Mill Market and at least four curated wines chosen by Vin Master owner and Certified Somelier Chris Woodrow.
The event is the perfect start to summer, says Woodrow. “Oysters go really well with Riesling and June 20 is the first day of summer.”
The Summer of Riesling movement was born in 2008 as a way to encourage oenophiles to taste the range of Riesling options available. What started as a lark in New York City is now an international event that kicks off on the first day of summer every year. Vin Master is one of the only stores in the Piedmont to participate.
“Riesling is an awesome wine in general,” Woodrow says. “It’s a really good food pairing wine. Most don’t realize it comes in a lot of different styles, from bone dry to sweet dessert wine. A lot of Riesling variations do have some residual sugars to it. It’s like a good lemonade, you keep the tartness, but need a little sugar to balance it out.”
