Thank you for the question and glad you all are coming to Charlotte and wanting to check out South End! A couple recommendations for you all. Staying Uptown is a great option because you have a lot of different hotel options, plus you can get on the Light Rail and be in South End in a matter of minutes. There are 4 Light Rail stops through South End and you can experience a lot without needing a car. The other option I would recommend would be The Morehead Inn. It's a much different experience from staying Uptown but still very close to South End. http://www.moreheadinn.com/

A few things to keep in mind about that weekend in terms of events. That weekend is the Wells Fargo Golf tournament. This event is my favorite event in Charlotte. The golf course is terrific, the houses along the golf course are spectacular and all of Charlotte is at the golf tournament. You can get day pass tickets and if you stay Uptown, they have a free shuttle that will take you to and from the golf tournament to Uptown so it's very convenient. You will want to book your rooms soon as they will fill up quickly.

We host a Gallery Crawl in South End the First Friday of every month. If you come into town on Friday night you should have some time to experience the gallery crawl if you like. On Saturday night we will be hosting a fashion show that has really grown in popularity over the past two years called Fashion Soul. We'll be hosting it at Amos Southend and it will be a wild, fun time, highlighting local designers. All the details for this event haven't been posted yet but it will be a lot of fun. Finally, we have a year round Farmer's Market called the Atherton Market and it will be open on Saturday from 9am-2pm. Farmer's Markets are a ton of fun and I highly recommend you making a visit.

I hope that gives you some starting points as you plan your trip. Happy to answer any further questions. Feel free to email tboyd@charlottecentercity.org.

Thanks

Sorry about that Beth. Gallery Crawls always happen the First Friday of every month in South End. This month was a little different with adding the food trucks and that was literally, a last minute addition so my apologies for not being able to get the word out sooner. Good chance we'll see Food Truck Friday during most of the gallery crawls going forward but we'll see! Have a good weekend! Ted
