The following is the weekly newsletter from Lynn Caldwell, Manager of the Atherton Market. It’s an incredible feature to have a year round, in-door market in South End and I appreciate all the hard work from Lynn and the vendors to make this happen! To subscribe to the Atherton Market Newsletter click here. Check out the details for this week and make note that the market has new hours for Wednesday 11am-7pm. Additionally the market is open Tuesdays 3-7pm and Saturdays 9am-2pm.
| What’s happening this week at the Atherton Market? With spring a scant month away, we’ve had a great 2012 thus far. Our community is growing by leaps and bounds, and construction is bringing us new neighbors as well as an internal facelift coming soon. We continue to try and make creative use of our existing space and showcase interesting products as they come to us via local businesses and the season. We love new things, but we also love the consistent and regular high-quality products that our vendors bring to you without missing a beat.
We also love to cook, and we’re delighted to welcome Chef Vera Samuels back this Saturday for a cooking demonstration, where she’ll prepare two seasonal dishes: Shrimp and Bacon on Polenta, and Winter Vegetable Soup with Bacon. Find her from 10 until around noon talking through her methods and offering tasty samples, as well as copies of her recipes! In vendor news, you may think we are bringing in someone new, but in fact Belle Terre is changing their name and upgrading their look. You’ll soon find the Whispering Willow label on bath and household products made by Wayne and Julia. Read the story here: http://whisperingwillow.net/blog/2012/02/19/whats-in-a-name/. They’ll also begin offering their pumice soap beginning this week, and introducing other products regularly, so stop by and see what’s new. Other outstanding new products we’re seeing and hearing about include WHOLE garlic pickles at Pickleville, three ounce honey bears from Cloister Honey, a new menu at Kobe’s Kreations featuring more local ingredients than ever before, and folk art iron flowers by ColdWaterCreek farmer and artist Brad Hinckley – these you have to see to believe. Today is Fat Tuesday of Mardis Gras, and you’ll see us looking festive and getting a little silly this evening! Come and get your grits and greens, and we’ll adorn you with a string of colorful beads. Don’t be afraid to dress up and parade around in your funday finest. You just never know what’s going to happen at the Atherton Market. Hi
I’m Andera the designer of Dera’s Designs. Currently, I crochet shawls and purses. I would love an opportunity to show my designs at the Alberton Market. I think this would be an ideal location to show off my one of a kind creations. I would gladly send you a few pictures of my creations to assist with your decision. I think it is a perfect place because they are handmade, perfect for spring, summer, fall and winter. They can be worn over suits for church and other outings, cover-ups for the beach or a chilly night over a sundress and many other ways.
Thank you for your considerations.
Andera
