Record Chili Cook Off Attendance – Over $4000 Raised for Burned Children’s Fund

I don’t know how you spent your Sunday afternoon but if you weren’t at the 2nd Annual Dilworth/South End Chili Cook Off, then you missed a great time. With no Panther’s game and incredible weather, people from all over descended upon Icehouse in the Atherton Mill for some incredible chili sampling. Over 22 teams competed, ranging from area restaurants to folks from the neighborhood. A $5 donation to the Firefighters Burned Children’s Fund got you all the chili sampling you could handle, that is until all the crowds showed up and left most of the the chili pots dry after only 3 hours into the event.

Great bands, a couple bouncy castles for the kids and cold craft beer made it a terrific way to spend Sunday afternoon in South End and about 3000 people agreed with me.

Proceeds from the Chili Cook Off totaling $4,162.75 will be donated to the Fire Fighters Burned Children’s Fund, which almost triples last years donation of $1500.

Special Thank You to Melanie Tritten of Bonterra Dining and Wine Room, Thomas Wickham of Icehouse, all the chili cookers, South End Fire Station #2 “Deuces Wild” and everyone who came out to make this a truly successful event! Can’t wait for next year!
