Thursday Night Plans?

Thursday night is one of my favorite nights to go out in Charlotte during the summer months. Maybe you are an Alive After Five sort of person at the EpiCentre but if you are looking for more local, unique options then head to South End. Here are several options and the great part, you can walk to everything so you can visit a couple places.

Tavern on the Tracks and The Gin Mill have great outdoor patios, with one being on the roof. Today is your last chance to enjoy the weather before the heat wave hits.

A small place that is often overlooked is Apostrophe Lounge right on S Tryon Street. It’s under new ownership and you can join tonight to see some of the new

Common Market patio is always a great spot and they host free beer tastings on Thursdays. Tonight’s tasting features Dark Horse Brewing Co. Starts at 6pm. (Keep in mind there are 2 Common Markets. One in Plaza Midwood and one in South End. Both are awesome…just make certain you specify with your friends which Common Market you are meeting them at PM or SE)

Newly opened in the old Jillian’s/Lux space is All American Pub. It’s a great addition to the neighborhood with an outside patio along the light rail and tonight they are offering half priced wines and $6 specialty Martinis from the menu.

Many businesses struggle to have a name that accurate describes their business, but not World of Beer. Probably the most extensive list of beers in Charlotte and tonight they are hosting a 21st Birthday Party for New Belgium. Details below!

Want to make your own classy bar crawl? I’d recommend Sullivans, Pewter Rose and The Liberty. All are within less than a block of each other and provide a great atmosphere, excellent menu, and slightly more upscale feel without being pretentious. All three have nice patios with live music happening on Thursdays. Tenya Colemon playing at Pewter Rose tonight.

If wine is a bit more your speed then you need to visit Vin Master Wine, which is tucked back on the light rail side of Atherton Mill. Tonight they are hosting a Mega Tasting which means, 5 distributors, 20 plus wines for only $15. Great environment and nice patio area to watch the light rail go by. While you are at Vin Master you can take advantage of 3 other great locations: Icehouse, Big Ben British Pub and newly opened Zucca Pizza Tavern. All have great craft beer options and patios but they all give you a different food options: American (Burgers, Wraps, Sandwiches, BBQ), British (Spotted Dick, Fish n Chips), and Italian (Pasta and Pizza).

Tyber Creek Pub has undergone some great renovations to both inside and out. Great patio and large space upstairs for events and bands. Tonight they have Messin’ with Sasquatch starting at 8PM.

Finally, Mac’s Speed Shop is always slammed on a Thursday night. Usually some type of live music on their patio with no shortage of bikes (not the kind you peddle). Great BBQ. Great Sides. Great Beer.
