CarolinaFest 2012 happens today in Uptown on Tryon Street from 10am to 6pm and will have a great line up of events and music. Chairman of the Board, Jeff Bridges and James Taylor are some of the headline acts for today. You will want to check out the Legacy Village as well. Lot of folks are asking about how to get to CarolinaFest and one of the best ways to get to this festival is via the Light Rail. The Light Rail will take you right through South End and there are lots of great things to check out on your way too or from CarolinaFest.
There are 4 Light Rail stops in South End and each has unique offernings of shops and restaurants within a 5 min walking distance of these stops.
New Bern Station: great furniture stores, Triple C Brewing Company, short walk up the rail trail north to Remount Rd and you can visit Canine Cafe, Healthy Home Market and Mac’s Speedshop
East West Station: literally steps away from The Liberty, Pewter Rose, Sullivans, Saucemans and Pike’s Old Fashioned Soda Shop. Several boutiques like SoBo Loft, The Benjamin Bear and Unexpected finds are a short walk too. If you head south on the rail trail you will come to Atherton Mill which is home to Big Ben’s British Pub, Zucca’s Pizza Tavern, Icehouse, Luna’s Living Kitchen along with our farmers market the Atherton Market and a great spice shop called Savory Spice Shop.
Bland Station: lots of great offerings within minutes..probably too many to list but here you go. Food – Bite Your Tongue, Common Market, Phat Burrito, Price’s Chicken Coop, All American Pub, Carrabba’s, Einstein Bagels, Nova’s Bakery, World of Beer, Tavern on the Tracks, Gin Mill, Greek Isles. Shops – Boulevard at South End, Blush Boutique, Modern Fabrics, South End Exchange, Lark and Key Gallery, Ciel Gallery, Charlotte Art League, Trolley Musueum.
Carson Station: you might to use this stop for access to Uptown. If you walk up to Tryon St you can have a nice short walk into Uptown. Food: Midnight Diner, Nikko’s Sushi.
