Back by popular demand, another day of volunteering in South End is planned for Saturday, November 3rd. You may recall our first South End Community Day in late April where we partnered with the Charlotte Community ToolBank (located in South End) to assist with the necessary tools and the South End Neighborhood Association for volunteers in order to plant 5 new flower beds and help with a couple beautification projects. It was a well coordinated morning that began with breakfast catered by Common Market and lunch provided by Saucemans after we were knocked out all our projects before 11am!
We will plant 3 new beds this time and give our existing beds some tender love and care by cleaning out any trash and weeds and adding new mulch. We also plan to do some litter pick up as well as spot graffiti/sticker removal where needed. We have a couple ideas for some art projects as well.
Volunteers can meet at the Charlotte Community ToolBank from 7:30-8:30 for breakfast and team assignments. Breakfast is being provided this year by Colonial Grand which is a new apartment development along South Blvd. We will head out to work no later than 9am and should have everything wrapped up by 11am. Our friends at The Ashton apartments are going to provide lunch for our volunteers.
We need volunteers and it’s a pretty easy gig where you get free breakfast….free lunch…a couple hours of work and pride in your neighborhood. If you’d like to volunteer please email Ted Boyd at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Below are some pictures from our last work projects. Hope to see you next Saturday!
