What an incredible Saturday! South End has been participating in Small Business Saturday since it’s inception in 2010. We have definitely seen the momentum build over the years and each year keeps getting better. To have so many people talking about Small Business Saturday showed that the day between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is truly becoming known as the day to “Shop Small”.
South End was hopping with people all day long starting with the reading of the Mayor’s Proclamation at Atherton Market by City Councilwoman LaWana Mayfield at 10am. The Free Trolley Shuttles were moving folks from place to place but truthfully, more kids had fun just taking a ride on the trolley and ringing the bell! You could see people walking and biking around South End to explore the many shops throughout South End. A great crowd showed up at Common Market for a Beer Breakfast and checked out the first ever Food Truck Brunch. To round out the day we about 200 people join us for the first ever South End Tree Lighting.
It’s pretty incredible to share that there were 19 New Stories by all the major Charlotte news markets about Small Business Saturday and the Tree Lighting in South End! While one day in the middle of a big shopping weekend is terrific, we have to keep in mind that it’s Small Business Saturday every Saturday in South End so hope you’ll come back throughout the holiday season and year!
