While some recent news in South End has been about a couple restaurant closings (Vinnie’s and Pewter Rose) it is important to keep in mind several new openings that are on the horizon. Luciano’s located in the old La Paz space is getting close to opening and “Now Hiring” signs are visible outside. A few weeks after the announcement of Vinnie’s closing, came the announcement of a new restaurant concept from the master minds behind 5 Church in Uptown called Nan and Byron’s with plans to be open around the summer. Finally, the Grand Opening of Stache House Bar & Lounge is scheduled for next Saturday, Jan 26th. See the details and images below and learn a little more about this concept. Sounds like it will become another great South End spot!

‘Stache House Bar & Lounge hosts Grand Opening this month in historic South End
CHARLOTTE, NC (January 18, 2013) –Historic South End has been in need of a relaxing, upscale lounge for friends to gather after work and the perfect place is set to open this month. The Queen City’s newest bar and lounge has taken the classic symbol of the mustache and used it to create a modern twist on a Victorian style speakeasy.
‘Stache House will host its Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, January 26 with festivities beginning at 6:00pm. All local businesses, South End community members and mustache enthusiasts are invited to attend this launch party. The lounge is located at 1520 South Boulevard just underneath CBS Radio, neighboring Carraba’s and the Aveda Institute in the popular South End district.
Featured throughout the night will be a variety of craft beers, hookah tasting and specialty cocktail samples from the ‘Stache Hard menu. Popular food truck Papi Queso StrEATery will be on-site from 6:00pm-9:00pm with delectable samples of their gourmet offerings.
Guests can expect a DJ mastered blend of music ranging from neo-soul and smooth jazz to house and 80’s dance pop. This laid back groove will be heard nightly, setting the perfect atmosphere for the young professional to enjoy a libation.
‘Stache House is the next business venture for owners Chet Desai, Kristian Pedersen and Neil Patel. These three have been a part of the Charlotte small business community for some years now, having several successful establishments, including Valhalla, Vintage and Courtyard Hooligans in the Fourth Ward Uptown. They are well versed in operating a quality, thriving business that is community based.
“We have called Brevard Court home for a number of years. The time came where we were looking to expand our reach and cater to a broader audience. South End is an area that is growing very quickly for the Charlottean that wants that uptown lifestyle but not live in center city. With ‘Stache House, we want to bring an elegant yet unpretentious bar concept to the area that still maintains the ‘neighborhood’ feel that we are known for in the Fourth Ward,” quoted owner Chet Desai.
Creating a masculine lounge with feminine appeal has been the vision of General Manager Morgan Tadlock since the ‘Stache House concept was born.
“The bar industry lacks variety in this rapidly growing city. For years I have recognized Charlotte’s need for an upscale yet unassuming lounge for the young sophisticate to hang out. Simply put, I wanted to create a cool space where I would enjoy spending time with my friends; drinking well crafted cocktails and listening to great music while still able to hold a conversation,” said Tadlock.
In addition to the chic environment and artisan cocktails, ‘Stache House will feature select wine, champagne and specialty beer. Fresh juices, specialized ingredients and high quality liquors are the focus of this well thought out menu. Hookah, a component not commonly found in Charlotte, will also be a key element to the lounge experience. A variety of tobacco free hookah flavors will be available tableside via ‘Stache House staff.
Set to become a successful, strong presence in the South End community, Stache House will officially open its doors to the public during the Grand Opening on Saturday, January 26. Whether you rock a mustache or not be sure to stop in and see what it means to Work Hard. ‘Stache Hard.
