THE VISIT CHARLOTTE PARTNER OF THE YEAR AWARDS
Visit Charlotte announces outstanding partner organizations and individuals
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Jan. 23, 2013) – Visit Charlotte announced the winners of the Partner of the Year Awards this morning at the awards breakfast and ceremony at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Winners were nominated by Visit Charlotte employees and partners to celebrate their outstanding performance and partnership during the past year. Award categories include Full Service Hotel, Select Service Hotel, Restaurant, Nightlife & Entertainment, Attraction, Service and Retail. This year, the Partner of the Year Awards were enhanced with three new partner-nominated awards including the Hospitality Unsung Hero Award, Outstanding Ambassador Award and Hospitality Professional of the Year Award.
Visit Charlotte Director of Partnership Kamin Brennan described the event as a special time to celebrate the champions of the local travel and tourism industry. “Our partners deserve recognition for their exceptional effort, collaboration and customer service throughout the year,” Brennan said. “They are the people and the organizations that help define Charlotte. With the help of these outstanding partners, we are able to continue to develop the Charlotte region as a thriving visitor destination.”
Each winning organization has worked closely with Visit Charlotte during the past year to benefit tourism in the region and to make the most of their partnership. With the addition of the new partner-nominated awards this year, Visit Charlotte was also able to recognize specific individuals in the hospitality industry who work the front line or behind-the-scenes to ensure a pleasant guest experience.
This morning heartfelt applauds celebrated Julia McFadden, line cook at Crowne Plaza Charlotte, who won the Hospitality Unsung Hero Award; Megan Quesenberry, Lodge/Cottage manager and the Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge, who was presented with the Outstanding Ambassador Award; and Bryan Paschal, owner of Paschal Promotions, who was named Hospitality Professional of the Year.
Originally from Fort Motte, S.C., McFadden moved to Charlotte when she was 12 years old and has been working as a line cook at Crowne Plaza Charlotte for 32 years. Crowne Plaza General Manager Bill Moore describes McFadden as an integral part of the hotel’s operation.
“Julia consistently produces terrific food for thousands of guests including the best fried chicken in North Carolina,” Moore said. “She is 100% reliable, a great teammate and a person that is true to her great set of personal values not to mention she has a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile.”
Marshall Hilliard, VP of sales and marketing at the Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge and Quesenberry’s supervisor, described her as natural at making each guest feel at home by welcoming them in a memorable way and providing effortless assistance conscientiously and pleasantly always delivering exceptional service. Quesenberry serves as the chief concierge who greets and attends to guests at these unique properties at the Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge.
And Bryan Paschal, named Hospitality Professional of the Year, was described by Visit Charlotte partners as “Mr. Hospitality,” who works nonstop to represent the city in a positive way. During his career, Paschal has focused on event planning, sponsorship procurement, sports consulting, promotions and marketing, social media for events and volunteer coordination, but his hobby and passion is working with local non-profits to raise funds through social events and sporting venues. In 1999, Paschal started Charlotte Sports Connection, Charlotte’s largest adult organized sports leagues and social club, before selling it in 2003. His largest event is the Wells Fargo Championship in which he is serving for his 11th year as the assistant to the tournament coordinator.
