“First in Wine and Cheese Flight” NC Wineries Tasting Event
Nine North Carolina vineyards and wineries featured at Atherton Market for a wine tasting event – “First in NC Wine & Cheese Flight”
The Charlotte World Trade Association and the N.C. Department of Agriculture are hosting a wine tasting event at the Atherton Market in an effort to further develop the awareness of the NC wine industry. The event is a meet and greet social from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm, offering a combination of fun and education. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served, supplied by “Simply Local,” a vendor at Atherton Market and purveyor in locally produced foods, in collaboration with acclaimed Charlotte restaurant Carpe Diem, who will prepare perfect accompaniments to the evenings wine selection. Cost to attend is $30, and pre-registration is required.
North Carolina ranks in the top-five destinations in the U.S. for wine travelers and enthusiasts; visitors can enjoy more than 100 wineries and 400 vineyards from the mountains to the coast. Today, North Carolina ranks 10th in wine and grape production in the United States. The number of wineries has grown five-fold and grape acreage has more than doubled in the last decade. Overall, the North Carolina wine and grape industry generates an annual economic impact of $1.28 billion and supports nearly 7,600 jobs.
