The 3rd Annual Charlotte Fire Department Auxiliary Pancake Breakfast was another great success! We sold close to 300 plates which was about 1500 pancakes for a total of $1,463.00. Thanks to the generosity of the the band we had that morning at the market, Simpler Times, they donated their booking fee to the cause for a grand total of $1,763.00. Special thanks to the Atherton Market and their vendors for providing the ingredients and to Magnolia Coffee for donating delicious locally brewed coffee!
The Pancake Breakfast is always a lot of fun because kids young and old love to see all the fire trucks, fire fighters and the fire dog, Chief. I often joke that the only time you ever want to see this many firetrucks on your property is for a pancake breakfast. With the horrible fire tragedy in Houston the day before the breakfast, it was a sobering reminder that these men and women put their lives on the line every day to keep up us safe. Even while in line to get a stack of pancakes, the fire fighters would get a call and off they would go. While it is the Charlotte Fire Department that is out there to help you and I…it is the CFD Auxiliary that is there to help the fire fighters and their families. They exist “to support the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of members of the Charlotte Fire Department, as they fulfill their commanded duty to minimize the risk of fire and other hazards to the citizens of Charlotte”.
Thank you for coming out last Saturday to eat some pancakes and support the Charlotte Fire Department and the Charlotte Fire Department Auxiliary. There were many volunteers with the Auxiliary but want to thank April Rink for coordinating along with Lynn Caldwell (Atherton Market Manager) and Andrew Wilen (South End Special Events). Again, thanks to the band, Simpler Times, for playing and donating and if you would like to book them please contact Bennett Thompson at firstname.lastname@example.org. Enjoy the photos from the morning!
