The first Outdoor Movie Night sponsored by the South End Neighborhood Association (SENA) was a great success. Moving it to a new location (Atherton Mill under the trees and on the grass) had a couple of kinks but we have them all worked out for this Friday. We thought we would be able to turn off the surrounding street lights but couldn’t so we’ll take care of them this Friday so it will be good and dark.
The movie is The Amazing Spider-Man and we’ll start the movie when it gets dark which will be around 8:45 to 9pm. We’ll have a small section of the parking lot blocked off for cornhole and seating before the movie as well as popcorn from Savory Spice Shop and some deserts for sale. Big Ben’s British Pub is right by movie night and they’ll have dinner specials you can bring grab to go as well as beverage specials to enjoy on the patio. Feel free to come early and lay your blanket on the grass to claim you space. We do ask that blankets go closest to the screen and any bag chairs be more towards the back to help with visibility. We’ll also have good seating on the parking lot for bag chairs as well.
In addition to Big Ben, Atherton Mill is home to Icehouse, Luna’s Living Kitchen, Zucca’s Pizza and Vin Master and right across from Atherton Mill is Pike’s, Sullivan’s, Luciano’s and Tyber Creek so you have tons of walkable options to make it a night.
Parking – if you are coming via car we ask you to please park on the far side of the parking lot between Icehouse and By Design. The parking is FREE but to support the restaurant patrons we ask you to please use these spaces. Movie Night is one block from the East/West Light Rail Station and if you come to Movie Night via Light Rail or Bus then we’ll give you a bag of popcorn for FREE! If you walk or bike…we just might have a treat for you as well.
Weather is always nice under the trees and on the grass! See you Friday!
